“I created Ozforce following the success of Greenforce" Marcus Watts explained. Marcus has justlaunched Ozforce the exciting new way to live work and make friends in Sydney. "Greenforce already runs conservation programs. One of Greenforce’s most popular programs is Greenforce Fiji. On this program volunteers live on a remote island learning to dive and undertaking marine conservation for the Fiji Government and UNESCO. After three months in the South Pacific many volunteers would naturally head to Australia. Sydney is typically their first point of arrival and the place they look for a job usually with limited or no support or contacts."
A recent study showed that up to 60% of Gapper's, who travelled independently, encountered some type of problem. This could be from minor theft or medical issues to more dramatic situations. Marcus goes on to explain "Over the years we heard some bad stories from volunteers who tried to “go it alone” and work, without the correct visa or on the promise of a job from someone they met in the bar. So over the years we developed some great ties in Oz. It got to the point where there was a semi-permanent apartment where the next group of volunteers would take over from the previous Greenforce Fiji group, leaving behind top tips on where to get jobs, how to open bank accounts, what you need to get medical cover etc.

So Ozforce has developed organically from those early days.
We continue in the original spirit of providing medic advice, banking advice, somewhere to live when you arrive, BBQ, staff to help you out but still with that independent degree of freedom.
Quite simply we want you to enjoy Oz safely, earning money legally while having the adventure of your life!"
